In 2010, the great Belgian collector and occasional donor to the museum Mr Jacques Polain donated the following items:
- An Egyptian statuette representing a helmsman, a figure who probably belonged to a large model of a funeral boat. Made out of multi-coloured wood, it can be dated to the Middle Kingdom.
- A pink terracotta amphora that came from an underwater discovery, made in northern Italy (mid-1st century BC – 1st century AD). This was most likely intended to carry wine, although the ovoid and round shapes appear to be reserved for salting, condiments and preserves, and sometimes for oil.
- A seventeenth-century powder flask.
